27th International Book Fair
Turin, Italy

The Turin International Book Fair is Italy's largest trade fair for books, held annually in mid-May in Turin, Italy. It was held in the Lingotto Fiere event center in 2014. The book fair is both a literary and cultural event.

2014 was the first instance the Holy See had been invited as a special guest to the event (8-12 May 2014). The extraordinary participation of the Holy See, which celebrates publishing at a worldwide level, took the form of both an individual stand (a booth featuring a large St Peter’s dome made of books), and a program of cultural and artistic events. Numerous Vatican institutions were involved in the event and were coordinated by the Pontifical Council for Culture. Among these, the "Pope's Museums" participated with the display of marble fragments from the Pius Christian Museum, books with artistic reproductions of the Collection of Contemporary Art, and scientific and educational publications from Edizioni Musei Vaticani.

As stated in the UFN's brochure for this issue, the invitation allows "...all of us to discover and better appreciate the history and cultural richness..." of the Vatican State. A €0,70 stamp commemorated the 27th Annual Turin Book Fair. The book festival stamp was in addition to UFN's announced annual philatelic program. The stamp displays St Peter's dome and the logo for the book fair, and it meets the rate for a letter delivered within Italy. The stamp was issued in a sheet of ten stamps.
