The Europa postage stamp (also known as Europa - CEPT until 1992) is an annual joint issue of stamps with a common design or theme by postal administrations of member countries of the European Communities (1956–1959), the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) from 1960 to 1992, and the PostEurop Association since 1993. Europe is the central theme. "Musical Instruments" was the Europa theme for 2014. Two stamps, €0,70 and €0,85, were issued to celebrate Europa. The €0,70 stamp features the organ made by Luca Biagi (1548-1608) located at the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The organ's decoration is by Giovanni Battista Montano from a design by Giacomo Della Porta, using sculpted and painted wood. The central and largest section, featured on this stamp, is identical in design to the right and left sides. All three sections feature a statue: The Archangel Gabriel (left) God the Father blessing (center), and the Virgin Mary (right). The €0,85 value features an organ at St. Peter's Basilica, located in the Choir Chapel on the left side of the nave in front of another older pipe organ. It was built in 1974 by the Tamburini Company and is used for all the solemn ceremonies especially those celebrated by the Pope. The stamps were issued in sheets of ten.
