Vatican City's first Europa issue appeared in 1969 (Scott 470-472). A second common design was issued in 2000 (Scott 1152). Except for 2000, since 1974 Europa issues follow a common topic or theme, rather than a common design. In 2015 the Europa theme is Old Toys. The €0,80 stamp depicts three papal Gendarmes in uniforms from the Napoleonic era and worn until 1965. One of the soldiers carries the yellow and white papal ensign. The 60,95 value depicts two Pontifical Swiss Guards in formal dress uniform, one guard holding a drum, the other standing at attention with a halberd. The Dome of St. Peter's Basilica is shown in the background. Both stamp designs display other toys associated with a bygone era. The two stamps were designed by artist Stefano Morn and are issued in sheets of ten stamps.
