50th Anniversary
Aerogramme

The Italian Philatelic Press Union (Union Stampa Filatelica Italiana - USFI) is an Italian national organization that brings together journalists and writers specialized in philately and postal culture, created with the aim of promoting the development of philatelic and postal information.

In the spring of 1965, on the occasion of the annual philatelic conference, some journalists met in Florence to verify the possibility of creating a trade association. A promoting committee was formed. They met again in Montecatini on 16 October and in Bologna on 27 November. In Rome, on January 29, 1966, the USFI was founded, taking the decision to include in addition to the members of the Order of Journalists also the non-registered authors. A provisional board of directors was appointed. A commission was entrusted with the task of preparing the statute. The formal act of the constitution dates back to the first assembly that took place on May 8, 1966 at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.

The €2,30 aerogramme marks the 50th anniversary of this organization which is an association of journalists and publishers whose work promotes philately. The design features an 18th century portrait of St. Francis de Sales, patron of Catholic journalists and writers. The postal indicia design is an inkwell and quill.
