Pope John Paul II established the "Centesimus Annus - Pro Pontifice Foundation" on 5 June 1993 along with lay Catholic business, academic and professional leaders. The Foundation promotes the study and dissemination of the Church's social doctrine and information on the Holy See's activities, as outlined in John Paul's Encyclical Centesimus Annus (hundredth year) issued on the 1st centenary of Pope Leo XIII's Rerum Novarum (Of New Things). It is headquartered in Vatican City. The organization is subject to the civil law of Vatican City and the canon law of the Church. A €0,95 stamp designed by Daniela Longo marks its 25th anniversary and features a detail of a painting by Domenico Ghirlandiao, "The Adoration of the Magi" (1485-1488), kept at the Ospedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), an orphanage in Florence.
