Easter 2019
'The Lord Has Risen & Appeared to Simon'
by Perino Cesari

The €1,10 Easter stamp features a traditional Resurrection design of Jesus one arm holding a standard with a red cross, a symbol of victory, and his right arm raised in benediction while amazed and frightened soldiers are depicted at the bottom of the design. The Latin phrase 'Surrexit Dominus Vere Et Apparuit Simoni' (the Lord has Arisen and Appeared to Simon) is inscribed at the top of the stamp. I am unable to find additional information about the design of this stamp. The stamp was printed by Cartor (France) and the name Perino Cesari appears on the bottom right selvage. It may refer to the Cartor designer of the stamp and the design may be a "modern" depiction of the Resurrection, using an artistic style from prior centuries.
