Recently an online publication was posted on the VPS website and is now available to our members. The article was written by William Wonneberger, Jr., the founder of the Vatican Philatelic Society (VPS). It describes all Vatican stamps issued from 1929 to 1954. The article was originally published in the National Philatelic Museum's journal (Volume VII, Number 1, pages 61-107), which was edited by Ernest A. Kehr. That issue of the journal was released in conjunction with Marian Year Philatelic Exhibition, which ran from September 22 through November 5, 1954, at the National Philatelic Museum in Philadelphia. The exhibit was under the patronage of His Eminence Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York, in cooperation with the Vatican City Postal Administration. (Cardinal Spellman is also listed as being the 1,000th member of the Vatican Philatelic Society). When the National Philatelic Museum folded, its assets were transferred to the Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum. We are grateful to the Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum for allowing the Vatican Philatelic Society the use of this copyrighted material on our website.
