Over the last couple of years, Vatican City has issued three souvenir sheets under the broad title Pilgrimage Around the World on the Way to Jubilee 2025. Those releases are shown above. In 2022, Pope Francis announced the theme of the Jubilee, Pilgrims of Hope. The logo for the Jubilee can be viewed by clicking on the In May, the official website and mobile app for Holy Year 2025 went into operation. The website is: Those going to the website or using the app can register to receive a free digital "pilgrim's card," which will be needed to participate in jubilee events, especially gaining access to the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica. The site and app will also provide updates on events leading up to the start of the Holy Year, which traditionally begins in Christmas Eve of the preceding year with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica, as well as the other basilicas in Rome. The website also provides information regarding four proposed pilgrimages or "Jubilee Walks" in Rome during the Holy Year: 1: The pilgrimage to the four Major Basilicas in Rome; 2: The traditional pilgrimage of St. Philip Neri to the seven churches in Rome; 3: The pilgrimage to the churches dedicated to the women doctors of the church and patrons of Europe; and, 4: The 'Iter Europaeum,' that is, the 28 churches for 27 different European countries, plus the church that represents the European Union. ![]() El Greco: 400th Anniversary of Death Scott 1563 (2014) Tied to the Holy Year will be a multitude of artistic and cultural events. The first such event occurred in September and early October with the public display of three works of art by the great Spanish painter El Greco. The works, which have never left Spain until this exhibit, were open for viewing at the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone, and included the masterpieces The Baptism of Christ, Christ Carrying the Cross and Christ Blessing. During the viewing period, a total of more than a quarter of a million people reportedly visited the exhibit. The works have now moved to Milan for viewing until February 2024.
