Recent Package From The Vatican UFN

Marvin Lanahan

On November 3rd, 2020 I received a package from the Vatican UFN. The postal markings on the package, sown above, caught my attention. The U.S. Morgan Center postmark was printed over the Vatican City postmark. From the Vatican postmark, I would assume the envelope was shipped from the Vatican on October 16th and was later processed thru the Morgan New York postal service center on October 31st. The package probably was shipped from the New York Morgan Processing and Distribution Center to the North Houston service center when most of the mail bound for the Katy Texas post office is processed. Finally, it arrived in my mailbox on November 3rd.

Postal marking would indicate it took nearly two weeks to get the package from the Vatican post office to the New York processing center. I would assume UFN mail goes to the Italian postal system. I do wonder if it was shipped by air and perhaps the package was held for several days as part of some sort of virus quarantine? I doubt this as getting anything in the mail from the Vatican has always taken a long time.

Digging around the internet I did find that the New York Morgan Processing Center is one of the U.S. Postal Service's largest processing centers. It handles mail a lot of international mail as well as mail for the Bronx and Manhattan.
