Every day, the VPS Website Team sends a Daily Email to all VPS Members who have opted to receive these transmissions. The Daily Email contains a Daily Question, an article of interest, and a link to Page 2, a database containing many articles collected over the years by the Society.
The topics for the Daily Emails generally follow the events of the day from the Catholic Liturgical Calendar (the Liturgical Calendar can be found by clicking the ‘Links’ tab on the gold bar on the Member Page). If a Vatican Stamp has been issued which pertains to the daily event on the Liturgical Calendar, an attempt is made to research information for that issue and make it available to our members. In addition, other sources for topics for the Daily Email include other Vatican stamps issued on a given date, current events, covers, postmarks, and other topics of interest. The Website Team aims to research, write, and schedule content that will be interesting to our members, with the goal of expanding everyone’s knowledge of Vatican Philately and enhancing our enjoyment of this wonderful area of study.
Members should also know that a VPS Calendar has been developed to inform members of past, present, and upcoming Daily Emails. Rather than just having the single Daily Email to review, members have the ability to review a year’s worth of Daily Emails. The procedure for searching the Calendar is as follows:
1. Go to the VPS Website (www.Vaticanstamps.org).
2. Click on the ‘Member Page’ icon at the top right corner of the page. This will bring you to the Logon Screen.
3. Log in (using your individual credentials) and you will be taken to the VPS Member Page.
4. On the Member Page, look for the ‘Calendar’ tab along the gold menu bar.
5. Click on the ‘Calendar’ tab to be directed to the current month’s ‘VPS Stamp Calendar’.
6. You can now click on any of the available entries on the calendar to view the chosen content.
7. By clicking the ‘Previous Month’ and ‘Next Month’ boxes to the upper right of the calendar, you can move through each month to find content presented throughout the year.
This calendar is ever changing as new Daily Emails are researched and scheduled, so check in regularly to see what’s available.
We invite members to comment on the Daily Emails, which can be done by clicking on the ‘Question or Comment’ box at the bottom of each Daily Email. We want to hear your comments (pro or con), as well as any ideas you may have for new articles. And we certainly encourage all VPS members to personally contribute new material to any of the Website offerings, as well as to the society’s quarterly publication, Vatican Notes.
