We have crossed the threshold, and the beginning of a new year is upon us. There is little doubt that this is going to be an interesting year with the wars in Ukraine and Israel and the upheavals of elections here in the USA. For me, I begin another year of calm retirement, with plans of travel, and a 6th year of being the VPS Webmaster. Developing the VPS website continues to be a “never-ending project” that is always fun to play with. One of the things that will be exciting this year is the Vatican Stamp Day at the Spellman Museum on October 19th. (Hope you are thinking about attending!) The VPS website team is currently working to prepare a series of slide shows for that event. We hope that VPS members are looking through their stamp collections and will find some interesting material to contribute to these presentations. The best part of being the VPS Webmaster is the regular interaction with other VPS members. Each VPS member seems to use the hobby of Vatican stamp collecting uniquely. It is always interesting to see how VPS members enjoy their Vatican stamp collections. I am always fascinated to learn some little piece of information about the Vatican or Vatican stamps from another member. I sincerely hope the VPS website helps members learn about the stamps we collect. A nice thing about being VPS Webmaster is the great support the VPS Leadership Team gives me. However, nothing compares to the joy received from seeing VPS Members reading the daily emails and visiting the website. Last month we went through a week of email issues. We simply could not get anything to process through the email server we had been using for the last five years. Our solution was to quickly find another email distributor that could get the VPS emails delivered daily. Things got resolved and tested on a Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. We instantly sent out an email. Within 30 minutes of sending that email out, over 25 percent of the VPS members had clicked to read it. Our statistics show that over 50 percent of our emails are read daily. 30-40 members click on the Daily Question every day. Those are the kinds of stats that show VPS members are supporting the website. THANK YOU! I am not sure what website challenges will be faced this year, but I am confident that it will be lots of fun! I'm hoping that the world of Vatican stamp collecting will continue to surprise me with new things to learn and that we all can have another year of sharing with each other. |
