Over the last few months, we have been exchanging emails with the Commercializzazione Filatelica e Numismatica (CFN) in Vatican City. The CFN is the group from which most overseas collectors buy Vatican stamps through on-line computer purchasing. Much to our surprise, we have learned that the CFN and the Vatican Post Office are two separate groups within the Vatican City governmental structure. Additionally, we have learned there is an array of postal products (postal covers, special souvenir folders and other items) sold by the Vatican Post Office that the CFN does not carry on their website sales pages. Sometimes these email exchanges have been a bit frustrating, which had led to the perspective that if we could just talk to someone for a few minutes, things would be much easier. So, with a spring trip to Rome on the horizon, I sent a meeting request to our contact at the CFN in Vatican City. Much to our surprise, we just received an email that such a meeting could be arranged. In fact, our CFN contact has suggested that they may be able to coordinate a joint meeting with someone from the Philatelic Division of the Post Office. The CFN, the Vatican Post Office, and the Vatican Philatelic Society together in the same meeting: who would have thought that could happen! We greatly appreciate the help of our CFN contact. So, we are now beginning a bit of prep work for our meeting. Time to dust off the outstanding question list that the VPS website team has had for some time. There is a real possibility of getting our Vatican City stamp questions to someone who might be able to answer them. And now is the time for VPS members to get your outstanding questions on our list. If you have any Vatican City stamp questions you would like to see answered, please use the VPS contact form to send them to us. We need to get your questions onto our list as soon as possible. One thing I want to know is: where is the little blue postal truck featured on the 2013 EUROPA stamps?
