Popes on the Stamps of Vatican City:
Popes and Saint Peter's Basilica

Lou Giorgetti

In today's excerpt from our series "Popes on the Stamps of Vatican City", we review the stamp set from Vatican City issued in 1953 that has been referred to as the "Popes and Saint Peter's Basilica". It is a definitive set containing 13 stamps: 11 regular issue and two espresso stamps. The set provides images of the Popes who, over the years, were involved in the establishment and reconstruction of Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.
