![]() 50th International Eucharistic Congress Dublin, Ireland Scott 1503-1504 (2012) Held in the Republic of Ireland at Dublin from June 10–17, 2012, the 50th Eucharistic Congress had the theme of “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another”. The Congress fell in the year of the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Second Vatican Council. Pope Benedict XVI delivered a pre-recorded address to the closing ceremony on June 17.

Taking place from January 24–31, 2016, in Cebu City, the theme was: “Christ in You, Our Hope of Glory”. Pope Francis did not attend, but appointed the first Cardinal of Myanmar, Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, as the Papal Legate.
![]() 52nd International Eucharistic Congress Budapest, Hungary Scott 1777-1778 (2021) Delayed by one year due to the COVID pandemic, the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress, held from September 5–12, 2021, was the second Congress held in Budapest, Hungary (the first being in 1938. Pope Francis attended the Congress and celebrated Mass at Heroes Square in Budapest. ![]() 53rd International Eucharistic Congress Quito, Ecuador Scott 1861 (2024) The latest Congress, the 53rd, was held from September 8–15, 2024, in Quito, Ecuador. The theme of the Congress was “Fraternity to Heal the World”. Pope Francis did not attend the Congress, having recently completed a lengthy trip to the Far East. It has been announced that the 54th Eucharistic Congress will return to Sydney, Australia in 2028. The Congress was held in Sydney one hundred years earlier, in 1928.
